As part of a the Regional Council’s Structure Plan for the master planning of Mount Peter, located in suburban Cairns, Metrocology was retained to prepare an accompanying Tropical Architecture Design Manual. Having advised on the layout of the Structure Plan for the new town, Metrocology incorporated best practices in tropical urban design and vernacular architecture to guide how development should occur within Mount Peter.

Metrocology teamed with Seth Harry, Architects & Town Planners to deliver a document detailing the principle and techniques used within tropical climate zones to increase ventilation, screen and shade from sunlight, and capture rainwater for reuse.

The Manual became part of the documentation of the approved Structure Plan of Mount Peter to be used in the regulatory process administering applications for development within the new town
