BRISTOL BECOMES, COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Design Workshop & City of Bristol
Design Workshop retained Metrocology to help prepare a full revision to the City’s existing Comprehensive Plan. The natural setting surrounding Bristol, seen as the City’s key competitive amenity, and the City’s own park system needed to be made more visible and protected within the community
The Comprehensive Plan focused on these to structure the future land use map. Using the principles of the 15 minute City, Design Workshop and Metrocology mapped out the areas best able to accommodate growth and densification, ranging from residential and retail to commercial and light industrial.
By doing so natural landscapes were called out and protected, and agricultural lands set aside. Building on the already world class parks system, the Comprehensive Plan expanded the greenway network to provide access between parks and natural areas, and alternative means of travel for residents who almost exclusively rely on the car.
