WILKINSON SOUTH MASTER PLAN
Town of Cramerton
Cramerton participated in the Build a Better Boulevard Corridor Master Plan, led by Metrocology. Based on the planning from that effort, the Town asked Metrocology to Master Plan an important gateway into Cramerton from Wilkinson Blvd, at the intersection of Lakewood Dr. the main access to downtown Cramerton approximately 1 mile to the south. The Master Plan covers approximately 130 acres. It is crisscrossed by utility easements, including a main natural gas pipeline for Colonial Gas, and a Duke Power High Voltage transmission line. Topographic challenges make direct accessibility to Wilkinson Blvd difficult at best
Metrocology developed a master plan focusing on the existing roundabout at Lakewood Dr and the entrance to Cramer High School. The Master Plan programs a mixed use neighborhood taking advantage of the traffic counts on Wilkinson to offer a retail forward plan and housing. The Town also wanted a new fire station and this was used as an anchor at the roundabout to establish the Town’s identity for those turning off Wilkinson
